Why Me

Excellent question, why me? Plenty of coaches out there to help you with a transactional objective. Close a round. Build a skill. Happy to recommend a few.

We typically end up working on a deeper dive into not only skills but more importantly the “limiting beliefs” and “narratives” that have been keeping them in a more limited space, particularly when they are making dramatic moves in their business/team/company. Lots of symptoms are coming up but we look at the causes of the symptoms: internal commitments to safety, being the smartest person in the room, imposter syndrome, fear of exposure, fear of...well, a lot of things that tend to be profoundly activated when they get stretched. Deeper dive. It has to be.

I’ve helped my founder clients deal with pretty much everything in their unique human landscape that is unexamined but causing most of the stress in their work and lives. Harnessing and leveraging dynamic leadership skills is 99% getting under the “surface”, the engine of beliefs/fears that is limiting them, particularly when they are challenged in new ways and roles.

Leaders in Transition/Late Stage Life Stuff: About 50% of my clients are currently leaders in the 2nd half of life - have exited or in the process of exiting their company. Yet another inflection point.

My Approach and the Impact it Creates

While I work in a variety of frameworks and learning models depending on the client and situation, I do have a couple of preferred frameworks that had dramatically improved my client’s approach to their own development and growth. Harvard University’s “Immunity to Change” uncovers the hidden resistance most leaders have to high-value change in their lives. It is an adaptive approach to change and transformation vs a skills-based approach. Most of my clients experience some version of this in our work as it cuts to the heart of why we all resist change that challenges our deepest assumptions about ourselves and competencies, particularly in high-value interactions that founders and senior leaders face. This is developmental learning applied to work and core beliefs/mindsets that have been previously unexamined. My clients experience dramatic shifts, first in mindset, then in skills and interactions that have been previously elusive for them. >> Read a Case Study

Working with Glenn as a coach has greatly shifted my ability to lead my team in a more compelling and collaborative manner. I’ve been able to understand that most people have internal conflicts when it comes to navigating change and rapid growth, driven by assumptions that we don’t question. That is critical for any leader to see how these assumptions impacts their team as well as their own growth. The business impact on for me and the people I lead has been profound.
